Edge of the Precipice - Book 1 of The Precipice Series

$19.95

The year is 2022.

The United States is struggling in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The economy is faltering, inflation is rising, the southern border is overwhelmed, and political and social divisions are pushing the country toward an increasingly uncertain future. For most Americans, life continues much as it always has—but there are signs that the stability they have taken for granted may be beginning to fracture.

Retired Green Beret Paul Michaels has spent much of his life operating in places where governments fail, violence becomes commonplace, and ordinary people suddenly find themselves confronting circumstances they never imagined. Now back home, Paul recognizes some of the warning signs. He doesn't know what's coming—or even if anything is—but experience has taught him that waiting until a crisis arrives is often too late to prepare for it.

As conditions across the country continue to deteriorate, Paul turns to the people he trusts most. Together with his family and a close-knit group of friends, he begins preparing for the possibility that the problems facing America could become something far worse. What begins as simple preparedness gradually takes on a greater sense of urgency as each new development raises the same troubling question:

How bad could things really get?

But Paul and his friends aren't the only ones preparing.

While Americans remain focused on the crises unfolding around them, a determined enemy is quietly moving pieces into place. Plans years in the making are nearing completion, and the people behind them are willing to wait for exactly the right moment to strike.

Paul has spent his life preparing for dangerous situations.

He just doesn't know yet that the danger is already here.

And America is closer to The Precipice than anyone realizes.

About the Author

Charlie Mike Adkins is a retired U.S. Army Green Beret and former G-Chief who draws on decades of military experience to bring authenticity to the world of The Precipice Series. His firsthand experience with unconventional warfare, austere environments, and the realities of conflict helps breathe life into a fictional—but unsettlingly plausible—vision of how quickly the American way of life could begin to unravel.

Born and raised in West Virginia, Charlie Mike served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Infantry before earning the Green Beret and serving with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). His military career included numerous deployments throughout Central and South America and three combat tours in Afghanistan as a member of a Special Forces Operational Detachment–Alpha (ODA), commonly known as an A-Team.

Following his military career, he continued working in the Special Operations community as a Guerrilla Chief, or “G-Chief,” helping train and mentor future Special Forces soldiers in unconventional warfare.

That experience provides much of the foundation for the people, relationships, tactics, and difficult choices found throughout Edge of the Precipice.
